Traffic and towers may be our new “look” as we anticipate the proposed “urban center” development at Point Wells. The landowner, Blue Square Real Estate, LLC has indicated that they may submit their development plan application to Snohomish County soon.

Development at Point Wells is Richmond Beach and Woodway's most important issues and we need our residents to have a voice and speak up!! This development will drastically change our quiet community. As stated at the open house in September, the developer plans on building 3,000 condo units, plus 80,000 square feet of commercial space. This massive development will not only double the current population of Richmond Beach, but bring with it a substantial amount of traffic and stress on public services.

Based on proposed plans neither Snohomish County nor the developer intends to build new roads. Their plan is to route all this new traffic through existing roads in Richmond Beach, Innis Arden (Shoreline) and Woodway. We will be left with major traffic and public service impacts while Snohomish County and Blue Square Real Estate reap the tax benefits and profits.

Woodway and Save Richmond Beach strongly endorse a joint community organization of Woodway and Richmond Beach, Innis Arden (Shoreline) residents. Our communities will be stronger if a coordinated message is delivered regarding smart, attractive, and appropriately scaled development along the waterfront of Point Wells.

Join Caycee Holt of Save Richmond Beach and Carla Nichols, Mayor of Woodway, as well as other representatives from Innis Arden and Shoreline. Learn about the permanent impacts on our community, ask questions, and hear how your voice can be heard.

A kick-off meeting of communities has been scheduled for:

Date: Wednesday, December 8th
Time: 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Venue: Swannie’s on the Alley Sports Club (Formerly the Grillhouse next to Spin Alley: 1430 N.W. Richmond Beach Road)

Mark your calendars for this important meeting! There will be dinner specials and a large room so that both communities can have a chance to meet and plan. There is still time to get involved and make a difference in how this project proceeds. Remember, this is your future, your community.
